Tenuta Santa Maria di Gaetano Bertani, Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC 2020

This elegant, complex Valpolicella continues the family tradition of the Ripasso method, used since 1850. The style is a consistent expression of the local Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone grapes, typical varieties for the terroir of the area. The Ripasso method is achieved delicately by carrying out a secondary extended maceration and fermentation on the skins of the Amarone grapes, giving the wine greater complexity, a smoother, softer body and an intense color. It then ages for two years in large oak barrels.

With notes reminiscent of Amarone, the wine has a bright ruby-red color. On the nose, intense notes of cherry, blueberry, licorice and lasting accents of cinnamon and pepper. On the palate, soft and warm, structured velvety tannins and very balanced acidity. Long finish with fruity sensations.
